Sie hat vollendt ihr Strasse, schleicht wieder in Zelt.

So mögen auch mein Sachen anstehen diese Zeit.

Ich will Feirabend machen mit schuld’ger Dankbarkeit.

Mein Augen, Herz und Hände, o Jesu, Gottes Sohn,

zu dir ich nunmehr wende zum schuld’gen Tagelohn,

denn du bist selbst getreten an meine Werkstatt gut,

hast helfen mir arbeiten, regiert mein Sinn und Mut.

Mein Haupt hast du gestärket, mein Fingern geben Kraft.

Hab deinen Seg’n vermerket, der allein frommen schafft.

Daher ist wohlgeraten mein Arbeit und mein Kunst.

Ohn dich geht nichts von statten, ohn dich ist all’s umsonst.

Drum ich von Herzens Grunde dich, Herr Gott, lob und preis

in dieser Abendstunde und bitt’ mit ganzem Fleiss,

du wollst mich gnädig hören und immer mehr und mehr

der Gut in mir vermehren zu deines Namens Ehr.

Erhöre nun mein Bitten, ach Herr, du treuer Gott!

Die Stadt wollst du behüten für Feu’r und aller Not;

und weil die Feinde toben, erregen Krieg und Streit,

so sende uns von oben den Fried’ zu uns’rer Zeit.

Hiermit ich nun vollende dies mein Geschäft und Sach

und herzlich bitt zum Ende: Herr, den Feirabend mach,

drauf der Sabbat angehet, der währt viel tausend Jahr,

der ewiglich bestehet. Amen, das werde wahr.

increase the good in me for the honor of your name.
