Ich versinke im tiefen Schlamm, da kein Grund ist;

ich bin im tiefen Wasser, und die Flut will mich ersäufen.

Ich habe mich müde geschrieen, mein Hals ist heiser;

das Gesicht vergeht mir, daß ich so lange muß harren auf meinen Gott.

Und nun spricht der HERR, der dich geschaffen hat, Jakob,

und dich gemacht hat, Israel: Fürchte dich nicht, denn ich habe dich erlöst;

ich habe dich bei deinem Namen gerufen; du bist mein!

Denn so du durch Wasser gehst, will ich bei dir sein,

daß dich die Ströme nicht sollen ersäufen; und so du ins Feuer gehst,

sollst du nicht brennen, und die Flamme soll dich nicht versengen.

Denn ich bin der HERR, dein Gott, der Heilige in Israel, dein Heiland.

Ich habe Ägypten für dich als Lösegeld gegeben,

Mohren und Seba an deine Statt.

Israel, hoffe auf den HERRN! denn bei dem HERRN

ist die Gnade und viel Erlösung bei ihm,

und er wird Israel erlösen aus allen seinen Sünden.

Wer hofft in Gott und dem vertraut,

Wird nimmermehr zu Schanden;

denn wer auf diesen Felsen baut,

ob ihm gleich geht zuhanden

viel Unfall hie:

hab ich doch nie

den Menschen sehen fallen,

der sich verläßt

auf Gottes Trost;

er hilft sein'n Gläubgen allen. 

I'm sinking in the deep mud as there's no bottom;

I am in deep water and the tide wants to drown me.

I've cried myself tired, my throat is hoarse;

I lose sight of having to wait so long for my God.

And now says the LORD who created you, Jacob,

and made you, Israel: Fear not, for I have redeemed you;

I have called you by name; You are mine!

Because if you walk through water, I want to be with you,

that the rivers shall not drown you; and if you go into the fire

you shall not burn, and the flame shall not scorch you.

For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Saviour.

I gave Egypt as a ransom for you,

Moors and Seba in your place.

Israel, hope in the LORD! for by the LORD

is grace and much redemption with him,

and he will redeem Israel from all their sins.

Who hopes in God and trusts in

will never be put to shame;

for whoever builds on this rock

whether it is handed to him immediately

much accident here:

I never have

see man fall

who leaves

to God's comfort;

he helps his believers all.
